Dr. Karl Mcdermott

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine

Growing up on a farm in Manorhamilton in northwest Ireland, I was surrounded by dogs, cats, cattle, sheep, horses, and goats, and wanted to become a veterinarian from a young age. I studied in Dublin and worked for two years in a mixed animal practice after completing my studies before recently moving to British Columbia. Working with such varied species back home was exciting and the variety of animals and cases we encounter here at Richmond Animal Hospital is exactly what I hoped for in this career. While I see primarily dogs and cats, I enjoy seeing the exotic patients of our practice as well. I hope to build great relationships with our patients and our clients. In my free time, I enjoy playing sports, and since moving to BC, I’m hoping to take advantage of the natural attractions this province has to offer, recently trying my hand at skiing.
